How to Book KLM Airlines Flight

KLM airlines is one of the major international carriers based in the Netherlands known for its comprehensive travel services and passengers-friendly policies. Read on to know about how you can book flight tickets conveniently.

Cancellation Policy

KLM’s cancellation policy allows passengers to cancel their flight, but the refund amount depends on the type of ticket purchased. For non-refundable tickets, a refund may not be offered, but you might be able to claim a partial refund based on unused taxes and fees. For refundable tickets, cancellations typically result in a refund after applicable service charges are deducted. If your flight is canceled by KLM, you are entitled to a full refund or a rebooking, along with compensation if the cancellation occurs within 14 days of departure. Always review your ticket's terms and conditions for specific cancellation rights.

Flight Change Policy

KLM offers flexibility when changing flight dates, times, or routes, but it often comes with a fee depending on your ticket type. For non-refundable tickets, changes can be made for an additional fee, and fare differences will apply. For refundable tickets, the changes are more flexible, and you will only be responsible for paying any fare difference. Changes must be made at least 24 hours before departure. If you need to change your flight, KLM allows online management through their website, where you can check availability and finalize the new details efficiently.

Policy of Flight Upgrade

KLM’s flight upgrade policy offers a chance to elevate your travel experience, subject to availability. Upgrades can be requested for a fee or via KLM's bid-for-upgrade program, where you can propose a price to upgrade to a higher class. Frequent flyers with KLM's Flying Blue membership may be eligible for complimentary upgrades, especially if they’ve accumulated a certain level of miles. The ability to upgrade also depends on the fare class, as some low-cost fares do not qualify for upgrades. Upgrades are more common in the Business Class cabin, depending on availability and demand.

Baggage Policy

  1. Carry on Baggage: KLM airlines allows passengers to carry hand baggage aboard the flight with specific regulations based on the class of service and the route. For economy class passengers, the standard allowance is one piece of hand luggage with a maximum weight of 12 kg. In addition passengers can also carry one personal item such as a small bag or laptop. For business class passengers the allowance increases with 2 pieces of hand baggage permitted each weighing up to 12 g. It is important to note the size limit for hand luggage, which must not exceed 55 x 35 x 25 cm including wheels and handles.

2.Checked Baggage: KLM’s checked baggage policy varies by fare type and route. For most long-haul flights, the standard checked baggage allowance for economy class passengers is one bag with a maximum weight of 23 kg. Business class passengers are allowed up to 2 bags each weighing 32 kg. For premium economy passengers the allowance is typically 1 or 2 bags with a maximum weight of 23 kg per bag.

Unaccompanied Minor Policy

  • KLM ensures safe travel for unaccompanied minors (children aged 5-14) through their dedicated Unaccompanied Minor Service.
  • This service ensures that children are escorted throughout their journey, from check-in to arrival.
  • Parents or guardians must fill out a form and pay a fee for this service, which includes a dedicated staff member supervising the child during transfers or layovers.
  • Children aged 15-17 can travel alone without the unaccompanied minor service but still have support available if needed.
  • Parents must also provide identification and contact information for safety purposes, ensuring peace of mind throughout the journey.
